Frequently asked questions

What is Wycombe Abbey Giving Day?

Wycombe Abbey’s first-ever Giving Day is an exciting opportunity for our entire global community to come together in celebration of World Book Day.

During this 36-hour online fundraising challenge, we will bring together pupils, staff, parents, Seniors, Council, former parents and former staff, both physically and virtually, to celebrate and fundraise in the spirit of all that is exceptional about our school.

How can I get involved?

Your support is hugely appreciated, including participation in one of our Giving Day challenges to unlock matched funding and bonus gifts.

Alongside donations, you can also help spread the word on social media and in the community. Please follow us, sharing and liking our posts on social media: #WAGivingDay

What are we fundraising for?

In celebration of World Book Day, our focus will be ‘libraries of the future’ – expanding and enhancing the materials and spaces available to pupils to keep them at the forefront of an increasingly global and digital culture of reading. Projects include:

  • Enrichment opportunities such as workshops with visiting authors and speakers
  • Enhancing libraries across campus as spaces to promote wellbeing
  • Increasing the materials in our foreign language libraries to expand our pupils’ horizons as global citizens
  • Reflecting an evolving reading culture though digital subscriptions and audiobooks
  • Extending community access to the wealth of materials in the School Archive through improved cataloguing and further digitisation.

Is there a minimum donation amount?

There is no minimum donation amount. We are extremely grateful to all our donors for supporting Giving Day in any way they can. Coming together as a community means that every gift, of any size, will be meaningful and impactful.

Can I make a gift before or after Giving Day?

Yes. We know that donors’ schedules may not allow them to participate during Giving Day itself. You can make a gift on this platform for up to a month before or after Giving Day, or contact the development@wycombeabbey.com to make a donation through another method and allocate it to the Giving Day total.

Is it safe to make my gift online?

Yes, all payments through our Giving Day website are securely processed by Stripe. Any gifts through our usual online giving channels are also processed securely.

Can I make a recurring gift?

Yes. Click here.

Can Wycombe Abbey claim Gift Aid on donations?

Yes. Wycombe Abbey is a registered UK charity (No. 310638) and as such is eligible to claim Gift Aid. As long as you have paid as much UK Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax as the amount of Gift Aid claimed on all of your donations in this tax year, the School can reclaim the basic tax rate (25%) on your gift, at no extra cost to you. For example, a donation of £100 will actually be worth £125 to the School once Gift Aid is applied.

Can I make a tax-efficient gift from overseas?

Donors in Hong Kong and the US can make tax-efficient gifts via in-country charitable vehicles. Visit our **Ways to Give ** page for further details.

Due to the time difference and processing times, we may not receive notification within the course of Giving Day. If making a gift via either of these vehicles, please also let us know at development@wycombeabbey.com so we can reflect your gift in the total raised (and on the Donor Wall, if desired).
